Sarah B. Banks was born September 1, 1936 in Tallulah Louisiana to the parents of Will and Mary Braxton she received some education in both Thomastown Louisiana and New Orleans Louisiana. She left Louisiana to start a new life with the love of her life; the beloved Ozabe Banks Sr. AKA “The Chicken Sausage Man” to whom she married in 1954. She enjoyed traveling cooking and hosting gathering for her family and friends She was best known for her New Orleans style gumbo and Southern-style candied yams “Mame” as she was so affectionately called stood as a resilient woman demonstrating love & Godliness. She was a Queen and Diva with a smile that brightened a room. She and her best friend caregiver and amazing daughter Dezella lived life to its fullest always accompanied by Angelina and Jeremiah to whom she loved dearly. The union of these four were inseparable. She lived in her home in Los Angeles since 1960. On January 2, 2018 she passed away peacefully in her home. Friends and family traveled from Peoria Illinois, Tallulah and Powhatan Louisiana and Houston Texas for the services. The viewing was on Friday, January 12, 2018 and the funeral services were held Saturday January 13, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Angeles Funeral Home 3875 South Crenshaw Boulevard Los Angeles California 90008 The remains were carried by a white horse and carriage through the Inglewood Park Cemetery with a dove release ceremony taking her to her final resting place in a double Mausoleum with her beloved husband Ozabe Banks Sr. Together at Last “Hail to the Queen Rest in Peace.
