Sally Bell Mentor Group observes the 20th Anniversary of “April is Poetry Month” with an essay/poetry competition. The contest takes place throughout April and features cash prizes.  The deadline for submissions is April 29. For rules and entry form, email [email protected].

Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church holds a Cell Phone Fundraiser every Sunday from April 21 through May 28, at 1900 W. 48th St., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Mary S. Inglewood Area Ministers Association plan their 33rd Annual Prayer Breakfast on May 5, at 7 a.m., at Los Angeles Airport Hilton Hotel, 5711 W. Century Blvd., in Los Angeles.
