Beulah Mae Calvert (88) of Culver City, CA, passed away January 10, 2021. She was born April 13, 1932 in San Antonio,Texas, the youngest of 9 children, to Izola Green Clark. She graduated from Phyllis Wheatly High where she was a majorette. After graduation Beulah traveled widely, serving the US government in Akinawa, Panama Canal, Neumberg Germany, Tacoma WA, & Williamsburg VA, earning a B.A. Degree. Settling in Los Angeles, she worked as a comptometer operator. In 1964 she began a career at the Los Angeles Sentinel in advertising and Real Estate Supervisor until retirement. “Busy Beulah” enjoyed reading, poetry, art, & music, a fan of football, playing softball, and riding horseback. The last years of her life she resided at Windsor Care Center in Culver City.
She had one son, Basil Calvert (deceased) and survived by a grandson, Basil Fennel Calvert; sister, Zola Green (94); niece, Derith Green; cousin, Robert Clark; a great-grandchild, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, & cousins. She will be greatly missed.
