Authorities recently identified one of two men killed in a shooting outside a South Los Angeles liquor store that left four other men wounded and their assailants at large.

The gunfire erupted about 8:40 p.m. Saturday at 88th Street and Vermont Avenue.

Juan Lopez, 23, of Los Angeles died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported, and another man died at a hospital. His name was being withheld pending notification of his relatives.

Four bystanders also were wounded, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. All survived, but the severity of their injuries was unknown.

According to the sheriff’s department, three suspects got out of a dark-colored sedan, opened fire on the victims, then sped away in the vehicle.

No suspect descriptions were released.
