Often, we think of healing only in the context of sickness—such as addiction, broken bones, surgery, mental anxiety, or domestic relationships. However, healing is not only related to illness. Any condition, whether physical or otherwise abnormal but curable, can provide an opportunity for healing.
Not all sicknesses are healed, but there are countless cases where healing occurs — we just don’t always hear about them. Still, that doesn’t stop us from holding on to faith and looking for our miracle. We can’t give up.
If you pay close attention to daily life, you’ll notice supernatural things happening. Sometimes, they’re brushed off as “coincidence.” But if you think deeper, you might realize something happened beyond your ability to explain. These things happen all the time. What’s the key ingredient? You guessed it: faith.
As I studied stories of healing, I noticed that some people came to Jesus for healing for various reasons, some more severe than others. In the Book of Luke, it says, “He was full of leprosy.” This man knew he had a serious illness. His disease humbled him, and he approached Jesus kneeling, believing in the possibility of healing.
Luke records that “when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and besought Jesus, ‘Lord, if you will…’” Jesus readily answered, “I will.” The leprosy left him immediately.
There’s YOUR answer, MY answer, and everyone’s answer.
The leper bore no shame in his request. His mind was made up—this was his opportunity. He took it. He knew Jesus had what it took for him to be healed. His limitations left him unsure how it would happen; he only knew it could happen, and Jesus was the one who could do it. His faith moved the mountain. He said, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” Jesus responded to this weakened, desperate man, “I will; be clean.”
Can you imagine the relief he felt? It must have been like shedding a suit of steel armor. This was a man who had to announce himself as a contagious leper, calling out so others could avoid him. People scattered, clearing space as he passed. But Jesus touched lepers without fear or scorn. His healing power transcended fear and focused on faith.
The contagious disease of leprosy existed then and still exists today. After healing the man, Jesus instructed him not to tell everyone, but to go to the priest and make an offering, as Moses had commanded, as proof of his cleansing. Why? Because Jesus operated on a divine, prearranged timetable during His time on Earth. The man needed to follow the proper steps to fulfill the law and demonstrate that he was no longer a leper.
What do we learn from this?
Some might say, “I’m not a leper and never will be.” Another might say, “I have a problem, but not that problem.” Others might feel ashamed, thinking their issue is too small or unimportant to bother God with. But here’s the truth: Whatever your personal challenge is, there is no problem too small, nor too great, for our Almighty Father to heal.
Our Father invites us: “Come to me, all who are burdened with troubles, and I will give you rest, healing, peace—freedom from anxiousness.” Go to Jesus for comfort and healing. Ask anything in His name. He hears us. And if He hears us (and He does!), we have the petitions we ask of Him. You are never alone. Pray with faith. Believe that what you ask, you will receive.
You may not know when—it could be an instant, a minute, an hour, or whenever—but He will do it! Reflect on all the other things He has already done for you. Count your blessings!
Without faith, it is impossible to please Him or to receive your miracle. Speak your miracle into existence. Experience things happening by faith in Jesus Christ.
