Aenon Bible College GraduatesAenon School of Theology and Bible College (AST) in Carson presented its first graduating class on June 9 at Peace Apostolic Church.

The 2012 class, in school colors of crimson and gold, made an impressive entrance marching to the legendary ‘Pomp and Circumstance.’ Approximately 500 well-wishers applauded as they received diplomas in various disciplines of Biblical Studies, Religion, and Christian Education.

Carson Mayor Jim Dear presented a City commendation to Aenon Dean Mary F. Jordan. Also making presentations were Carson Councilmembers Lula Davis Holmes and Mike Gipson. Other commendations came from L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, the U.S. Senate and U.S. Congresswoman Laura Richardson.

Dr. Howard A. Swancy, president and founder, presented the Baccalaureate sermon. He said, This occasion marks years of dedicated studies by these students who, for the most part, worked day jobs and sacrificed their evenings to studying the word of God.

“They are to be commended for choosing this field of study in a time when Theology is shrouded with so much controversy.”

Dr. Swancy further stated, “While there are many preachers, there is a vast market for voices that herald the truth.  Bible College presents a tremendous opportunity for students to search the scriptures for themselves and to be protected against the current onslaught on the very existence of God.”

“These students are prepared for careers in ministry, churches, parachurches, and faith-based organizations to serve as chaplains and teachers. We believe they will be successful in whatever field they choose,” said Dean Jordan.

Dr. Swancy established the Peace Apostolic Church following 15 years as a successful account executive at CBS Television. Initially, his membership consisted of family members and friends.  It has since grown to over 1,400.

He opened the Bible College in March 2007. The college holds accreditation through ACI (Accrediting International), the largest non-governmental accrediting agency in the United States. Dr. Genevieve Shepherd, principal of Thomas Bradley Environmental Science and Magnet School, serves as Chairman of the Board and Professor of Christian Education.

The College offers an extensive curriculum in Theology, Christian Education, Biblical & Religious Studies and currently operates on a semester basis. Start-up scholarships are available to those who qualify.
