Mrs. Mary Frazier Wade, the mother of the Rev. Dr. Melvin V. Wade, Sr., pastor of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church of Los Angeles, passed away on April 11 following a brief illness.
Mrs. Wade, who was 98-years-old, was the wife of the late Dr. James Commodore Wade, Sr., pastor of the historic Salem Baptist Church of Omaha, Nebraska.
Two celebration of life services are planned. The first service will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m., at Mount Moriah, 4269 South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. The viewing is set for 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The second celebration takes place on Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m., in Omaha, Nebraska at Salem Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Selwyn Q. Backus is the pastor. The internment will be at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.
A native of Sunflower, Mississippi, Mrs. Wade was born on August 3, 1917. Cherishing her memory are her sons, Dr. Melvin V. Wade, Sr., and Dr. J.C. Wade, Jr.; daughters, Ruth Murray and Marsha Nichols, and a host of other family members.
