The Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship recently honored Pastor James K. McKnight on his 10th anniversary as their spiritual leader.
Community members, friends and civic leaders joined the congregation for two events that included powerful prayers, soul-stirring singing, thoughtful expressions, dynamic preaching and a video tribute that brought many to tears.
Pastor McKnight, known for his passion and his warm smile, was especially joyous as he reflected on a decade of pastoral service. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude to the committee, his partners in ministry, those he has been privileged to pastor, those who have been loving and supportive and members for their patience through difficult seasons of growth.
“We are a church committed to honoring God, developing Christians, connecting people and loving everybody. Over the past 10 years, we have gotten much better in those four crucial areas,” said McKnight.
Under Pastor McKnight’s leadership, the church has dramatically upgraded its facilities, added a morning alternative worship service, established a daily prayer conference call, built a strong Internet presence, and implemented various ministries and many community outreach efforts. Also, the church has hosted three mission groups as well as performed mission work in Los Angeles, Louisiana and South Africa.
Long time church member, Lessie Lee Daniels, said, “His commitment and compassion are unwavering and I am so grateful that the Lord has blessed us with such a capable and dynamic leader.”
Kameron Burwell, the 10th Anniversary Chair added, “Pastor McKnight’s innovative sermons teach the scriptures and help us understand current events and tackle difficult issues. Our members are not only spiritually fed, but enjoy his calls and visits when we suffer illness or disappointment.”
