The members of Price Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church will host ‘Steward’s Day’ on Sunday, August 16, at 4 p.m., in their sanctuary located at 4000 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles.
The theme is ‘Stewards Doing What They Are Called To Do.’ The scriptural reference is Titus 1:7 and I Peter 4:10.
“We invite greater Los Angeles to join us as we recognize the godly, dedicated members of our Steward Board. Also, I believe you will be uplifted by the powerful preaching of the Rev. Mark E. Whitlock, Jr., pastor of Christ Our Redeemer AME Church in Irvine,” said Pastor Benjamin Hollins.
Pastor Whitlock is the spiritual leader of the largest predominantly African-American church in Orange County. Under his leadership, the church has grown to more than 3,100 multi-racial members and operates several outreach ministries and socio-economic programs for the community. Last year, he led the congregation in purchasing a $6.8 million, 26,000-feet edifice.
Also, the Rev. Whitlock serves as executive director of USC’s Center for Civic and Community Engagement. Prior to entering full-time ministry, he was the founder and executive director of FAME Renaissance, the economic development arm of First A.M.E. Church in Los Angeles.
Dorothy Haskin and Ron Wallace are co-chairs of the Steward’s Day service and Patricia Mayberry is the pro temp of the Steward Board.
