With an eye on the future and a commitment to maintaining core values that made the company a premier public relations firm, Lauren Tobin (43), officially assumed the senior executive role at Tobin & Associates.
The daughter of Pat Tobin, the company’s founder and CEO, Tobin currently runs the boutique entertainment public relations firm, Panther PR. She will now manage the operations of both entities.
“Panther PR will continue to focus on entertainment, while Tobin & Associates remains committed to corporate, civic and community-based public relations,” said Tobin. “It is like having a Prius and a Lexus in the driveway, and I will rely on a talented team of professionals to help me successfully drive both cars.”
Tobin began her career in television publicity with Steven Bochco Productions in 1989, where she was involved in launching some of television’s most innovative series, including “Doogie Howser, M.D.” “Cop Rock” and the celebrated, “NYPD Blue.”
In 1995, she was hired as a junior publicist at ABC Television Network. During her 11-year career there, she launched the hit series “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “The Drew Carey Show” and the hit reality series, “The Bachelor.” She publicized the most-watched wedding since Prince Charles married Diana Spencer, “Trista and Ryan’s Wedding,” which aired on ABC in 2003. Other career highlights include, “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” a multi-cultural, musical extravaganza which starred Brandy and Whitney Houston and was the most watched television movie of the year.
As a member of the Publicists Guild of America, Tobin won its top honor, The Maxwell Weinberg Showmanship Award which recognizes the year’s best television publicity campaign, and was nominated three times more. She has twice been recognized by the Television Publicity Executives Committee for outstanding television campaigns.
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Tobin earned a Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism. She currently lives in Southern California with her husband and son.
On June 10, Pat Tobin lost her long battle with cancer at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills. A celebration of life held June 27 for the PR icon drew more than 1200 people.
