Assemblymember Isaac Bryan recognized Post & Beam Restaurant for their impact as a central hub for soulful flavors, elegance, and communion in South Los Angeles.

Bryan invited Post & Beam owners, Roni and John Cleveland, to the Annual Legislative Business Brunch to receive acknowledgement and appreciation for serving more than 10 years in the community.

“We were very surprised to learn that we would be honored this year,” Roni said, “right in the nick of time.”

Post & Beam recently announced they were closing their Brick-and-mortar, located in the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. The last day of service will be on Feb. 27.

“We feel very full. We feel very grateful that we were able to serve our community in this way and that we were well received. After the restaurant already being there eight years, and you know, us taking over for the last five years, it’s been quite the roller coaster. But it means a lot to us, and we’re really grateful for the recognition,” said John.

Post & Beam was honored at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento. The ceremony was held on Feb.10. It recognized exceptional contributions to entrepreneurship and business excellence. The brunch was co-hosted by the California Black Chamber of Commerce and the California Legislative Black Caucus, and it celebrated the accomplishments of firms that embody the spirit of innovation and community impact.

The Annual Legislative Business Brunch serves as a platform to recognize and honor businesses that have made significant contributions to their industries and communities. Roni shared her excitement in maintaining the Post & Beam legacy through catering and private events and she also shed light on the next moves on the horizon for the restaurant.

“You can be on the lookout—we’ll have a brick and mortar, but stay tuned for the location,” Roni said.
