O.J. Simpson, a legendary football player and actor most known for his controversial marital trial in the mid-1990s, died on Thursday, April 10, according to his family.

According to KTLASimpson was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. His family announced the news on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Simpson was a beloved athlete, he won the Heisman Trophy as a running back at the University of Southern California in 1968 and the NFL MVP award with the Buffalo Bills in 1973.

However most of his recognition comes from a controversial murder trial, known at the time as the “the trial of the century.” People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson was a criminal trial in Los Angeles County Superior Court that commenced in 1994.
