L.A. Councilmember Curren Price, hundreds of community members, leaders of several non-profit organizations in District 9, neighbors and other stakeholders, joined mayoral candidate Congresswoman Karen Bass at Phillips Temple CME Church for a special meet and greet event held on Monday, Sept. 19.
Among the diverse local community organizations in attendance were Community Development Technologies (CD Tech), Community Build, Inc., Volunteers of America, Mama’s del Sur Centro, Brothers Taking Responsibility of Our Community, Brotherhood Crusade, South Central LAMP and many more.
“Karen Bass is a true pioneer woman, a champion for equity, social justice, and a fierce advocate for the poor and working class. For decades, she has built a reputation of speaking up for the marginalized and bringing parties together to advance us forward to a more just and fair society,” said Price.
“There is no question in my mind Angelenos have a battle-tested champion in Congresswoman Bass and I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with HER to ensure a more prosperous future for Los Angeles.”
During an hour-long program, Price and Bass addressed the local leaders and community members and discussed important, quality-of-life issues such as homelessness, crime prevention and public safety.
To keep the momentum going through the Nov. 7 election, Congresswoman Bass is holding a Volunteer Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. at her campaign headquarters located at 3601 S. La Brea Ave., in Los Angeles. The event will include special guests, music, art and opportunities to get involved with her campaign.
