Rohelia “Cherry” Burrell was the 10th of 13 children born to Robert and Lucile Burrell in Canfield, Arkansas, February 5, 1930. In 1943, her family moved to Los Angeles and lived near historic Central Avenue. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948, and helped plan the 40th, 50th, and 60th Class Reunions. She married her husband of 63 years, M. Meredith Beal, on November 30, 1952 and they had two children. Cherry accepted Christ and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church. Her Christian faith was shown in her actions, and their home was filled with love, games, and celebrations. She was a community activist and lived in the same house on 78th Street since 1961. She received her AA Degree from Southwest College. She had her own real estate brokerage and over the years owned a hair salon, restaurant, laundromat, and rental properties. Cherry leaves her son, World Peace Ambassador Meredith Beal, daughter, Pasadena City Attorney/City Prosecutor Michele Bagneris, son-in-law Rev. Jules S. Bagneris, III, three grandchildren two sisters, one brother, and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation at Angelus Mortuary Thursday, May 27, 1:00-3:00; Homegoing Friday, May 28. She fought the good fight and kept the faith.
