Legendary Rapper Snoop Dogg Calls on Voters to Support Herb Wesson and to Vote Early

LOS ANGELES – Snoop Dogg, one of the Los Angeles area’s most accomplished rap artists, has endorsed Los Angeles Councilman Herb Wesson to become the next Los Angeles County Supervisor. In his message, Snoop encouraged his fans to vote for Wesson for Supervisor and to return their ballots early.
“This year is going to be my first time voting, and I’m voting for my homeboy Herb Wesson for Supervisor,” said Snoop Dogg, who’s given name is Calvin Broadus.
Snoop Dogg has been a pivotal figure in defining the West Coast hip hop scenes over the last few decades. He has been nominated for multiple Grammy awards, and has earned many other accolades and critical acclaim in the industry. He’s also starred in several featured films, and is widely known throughout the world with more than 35 million albums sold worldwide.
“Snoop has influenced and inspired so many people across Los Angeles and the world,” said Wesson. “He’s also got his ears to the streets and knows the issues facing the second district. I’m humbled to have his support to become the next County Supervisor.”
Besides politics and music, both men have deep roots to youth development & gang reduction in South Los Angeles. Snoop started the Snoop Youth Football League in 2005 to provide the opportunity for inner-city children to participate in youth football and cheer. Before his accomplished political career, Wesson was a successful Pop Warner football coach who won a youth football national championship. Both men have coached several young Angelenos who went on to have successful NFL careers.
Wesson’s endorsement from Snoop Dogg marks continued momentum and community support. Last week, co-founder and leader of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles Melina Abdullah and Los Angeles organizer and activist Pete White. These individuals join the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, Mayor Eric Garcetti, comedian Tiffany Haddish, and hundreds of other labor unions and grassroots organizations in their support of Wesson.
Vote-by-mail ballots, which are being delivered to every registered voter in Los Angeles County, have been sent out by the County Registrar, and readers are encouraged to fill out and return their ballots as soon as possible.
