The Compton Community College District (CCCD) has two positions open on the Board of Trustees that will be elected by area voters during the upcoming General Election to be held on November 3, 2020. Applicants interested in running for a CCCD Board of Trustees position may find election and candidate information on the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk website at www.lavote.net.
Elections will be for the positions of Trustee Area 2, which includes Willowbrook, Enterprise, Compton, and West Rancho Dominguez; and Trustee Area 3, which includes Lynwood, South Gate, Paramount, and Downey. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and registered voters residing in either Trustee Area 2 or Trustee Area 3.
Trustees elected in November 2020 for Trustee Areas 2 and 3 will serve a term of four years, commencing on the second Friday in December subsequent to their election.
The CCCD is seeking candidates who have the skills, ability and time to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of being a member of the Board:
- Advocate for and protect the district;
- Assist in establishing a climate in which high standards are maintained and institutional goals are accomplished;
- Conduct itself in legal, ethical, and prudent ways;
- The Board of Trustees hire and evaluate the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO);
- Respect the authority of district’s President/CEO to manage the day-to-day affairs of the District and to oversee the work of District personnel in the appropriate performance of their duties by providing direction and guidance only to the President/CEO.
The Board of Trustees generally meets once per month on the third Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m.
The dates for the candidate application filing period with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Office is July 13, 2020 through August 7, 2020.
