Dr. Clark E. Parker, Sr. was appointed to the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Governing Board by the California Senate Rules Committee on June 1, 2012.
During his tenure at South Coast AQMD, Dr. Parker was devoted to improving the lives of residents in the South Coast Air Basin. He was especially focused on improving the lives of residents living in disadvantaged communities, especially African American communities.
“Dr. Parker was dedicated to our mission of cleaning the air,” said South Coast AQMD’s Governing Board Chair Dr. William A. Burke, Ed.D. “He is an inspiring individual who truly wanted to make life better for those living in the region.”
At South Coast AQMD, Dr. Parker served as vice chair of the Governing Board. He chaired the Mobile Source and Refinery Committees, and served on numerous other committees, including the Legislative, Administrative and Personnel Committees. He also served on the California Fuel Cell Partnership, a collaboration aimed at expanding the market for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
Dr. Parker has served on a number of committees outside of South Coast AQMD, including the California Professional Fiduciaries Advisory Commission, Coastal Commission and California Senate Select Committee on Telecommunication.
He holds a B.S. from the University of Minnesota, a M.S. from Redlands University, a Ph.D. from the University of Central Arizona, and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Laurence University.
Dr. Parker has two children with his wife, Dr. Jeanette E. Grattan Parker, who he has been married to for 54 years.
