A Los Angeles police officer pleaded not guilty today to a grand theft charge for allegedly receiving more than $8,000 in wages for work she did not perform last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Monica Renee Moore (dob 3/2/72) was charged in case BA478090 with one count of grand theft. She is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing setting on June 26 in Department 31 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.

Deputy District Attorney Saeed Teymouri of the Justice System Integrity Division is prosecuting the case.

Between April and October 2018, Moore is accused of falsely reporting she was at work 18 times. She received $8,543 in compensation for those days, the prosecutor said.

If convicted, Moore faces up to three years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
