The Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, better known as the Crenshaw Mall, has added some flavor to its food court with the recent addition of the Cajun-style franchise Krispy Krunchy Chicken.
Louisiana-based Krispy Krunchy Chicken is a national, fast food restaurant that has recently made its way to the west coast. .
This location is run by co-owners and siblings Kevin Ramsey and Traci Ramsey Watson.
“The business opened about a month and a half ago and has so far been successful. People like the chicken, we have repeat customers which is good and a lot of employees in the mall like to eat here about two to three times a week, “said partial owner Kevin Ramsey.
The menu consist of Cajun-inspired favorites like sweet and sour buffalo wings, chicken tenders, “krispy” shrimp, French fries and more food for the whole family.
What’s more, hungry customers will no longer have to wait until lunch to enjoy chicken. At Krispy Krunchy Chicken, customers can order breakfast items like burritos and honey butter biscuits, from the Sunrise breakfast menu.
The franchise will have the opportunity to make a big splash at the 10th annual Taste of Soul Family Festival, the largest street festival in the Los Angeles area, in October.
“I want to go and see and talk to the people, and to be able to give them some good food and good conversation. This is going to be great to be able to advertise the business since we just opened up and getting to know our customers,” Kevin said.
Since the opening of the chicken franchise, the business has catered to multiple events held in the Crenshaw mall and to nonprofit organizations such as Brotherhood crusade.
On August 8, Krispy Krunchy will be hosting its grand opening and raising funds for Dorsey High School’s track team from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Crenshaw mall. The team has not received new uniforms since 1988.
“What we are trying to do is to help raise funds and I believe that the community will come out and buy these sweat suits for these children on that date. It’s not just a grand opening for Krispy Krunchy and a chance to introduce ourselves to the community but it’s also, to help our community out,” Ramsey Watson said.
