When we are trying to get somewhere it is important that we not only have the right plan and directions, but it is equally important that we have the right vehicle. Every mode of transportation is not necessarily the right vessel to get you where you want to go. This is true not only geographically, but also in life.
Often the terms vehicle and vessel can be used interchangeably, but they serve two different purposes. A vehicle is usually referred to when discussing ground transportation. A vessel is usually related to water usage. If you are trying to go across the ocean an automobile will not suffice, at least not yet.
Over the years, I often wondered why I struggled with reaching a certain destination, but what I did not realize was I was using the wrong vessel or vehicle to reach my goal. Sometimes we make things more difficult than they need to be when we refuse to take the time to properly
prepare and have the right transportation to get us where we want or need to go on our journey. What I know to be true is the first step is you need to know where you want to go if you want to select the best transportation necessary to get you there.
The Bible says that we perish for a lack of vision. Many of us travel through life without a clear vision of what we want to do with our lives or where we really want to go. We fall into various career paths and jobs, but they may not necessarily be the vision we or God has for us. We settle and we quit trying.
Have you ever taken the time to really search your soul to find out what you really want to do in life? Do you understand your purpose? Many of us get caught up in the day-to-day struggles of life that hold us back from really searching our hearts for where we want to go.
We gauge our success based on what others are doing, or what we think they are doing based on what we see on social media. We cannot compare what is meant for us based on what others think, say, or do. We have no idea the price others have paid to get where they are.
When we learn or figure out for ourselves the path that we are meant to travel, things become much easier and clearer opening our eyes to know which way we need to go and what would be the best way to get there.
You might think to yourself that you have been on a road less traveled for such a long time and you do not know how to turn around and get on the right path. You might think that it is too late for you and that time has passed you by. I am here to tell you this is not true.
It is never too late to get on the right track and get on the right bus, train, plane, or boat to take you where you need to go. Many of us have experienced disappointments, distractions, and discouragement, that distracted us along our journey, but we have the strength and support to get back on track.
Jimmy Dean once said, “I cannot change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” The same is true for all of us. We cannot change the past and the choices and decisions we made or were part of during that time, but we can change where we go from here.
Remember, we cannot go back and change the beginning, but we can start where we are right now and change the ending. You have the power to change your narrative at any time, but you need to know what you want to do and where you want to go to get the right vehicle or vessel for your journey.
