WriteGirl is seeking woman and gender-expansive writers in all genres, including fiction, poetry, journalism, screenwriting, songwriting, copywriting, business writing and more to help mentor teens.
WriteGirl is a Los Angeles-based creative writing and mentoring organization dedicated to showing the power of a girl with a pen. By matching girls with women writers who mentor them in creative writing, WritGirl has become a thriving community with over 200 volunteer women writers serving more than 500 girls annually.
Each year, this organization produces and hosts a number of workshops, panel discussions, and special events that allow young women to get creative. They also host a number of workshops that assist in helping girls get through high school and get to college.
A notable alum of WriteGirl is Amanda Gorman, the young who performed her poem, “The Hill We Climb” at President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
Through WriteGirl’s one-on-one mentorship program, girls are given the skills for great writing in all genres from professional women writers. Workshops and mentoring sessions explore poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, songwriting, journalism, screenwriting, playwriting, persuasive writing, journal writing, editing and more.
The deadline to apply for WriteGirl is Monday, August 15th. For more information on WriteGirl, and their services visit: https://www.writegirl.org.
