June is Men’s Month at Los Angeles Third Church of Religious Science. In honor of God’s Spiritual Men everywhere and because this is Black Music Month as well, the Men of Third Church have scheduled a month of activities to flatter their chosen theme, “Steppin’ Up,” and highlight our wonderful legacy of music which informs, uplifts and sustains the Spirit. This Saturday, June 12, at 9:30am there will be a Prayer Breakfast featuring Keynote Speaker, Dr. Clarence Shields. Dr. Shields is President of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Founder of Team HEAL. Team Heal is a non-profit program with a mission to bring comprehensive injury prevention, medical care, athletic training, healthcare awareness, mentoring and academic support to high school student athletes in underserved communities.

On Sunday, June 13th, Reverend Cecil “Chip” Murray will be Special Guest Speaker at  the 11:00am Service. For 27 years, Reverend Murray was Pastor of the First African Episcopal Church (FAME), presiding over more than 18,000 parishioners. In 2005, he joined the teaching staff of USC where he holds the John R. Tansey Chair in Christian Ethics, and is a senior fellow at the Center for Religion and Civic Culture.

Men’s Month will also mark the much requested return of Wednesday Night Jazz N’ Prayer, the Summer Jazz Concert Series featuring some of the most celebrated jazz musicians and vocalists in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Third Church is located at 4323 Leimert Blvd. For more information, please call 323.290.9514 or visit our web site @ www.lathirdcrs.org.
