John looks to see who/what has been given the power and glory to take the scroll (the book) from the right hand of the great God!

He sees “a standing lamb!” This lamb appearing to be just a lamb surprisingly is the powerful lamb who has overcome and prevailed through crucifixion and resurrection in the world and sacrificing Himself – “the Lion of the tribe of Judah; the root of David.”

He is the resurrection savior for all those who choose to accept His invitation to come to Him, confess Him as Lord and receive eternal life. He is the “root of David.”

David was not allowed to build the temple, but Jesus Christ is “the only one” in the royal line of David from the root of Jesse and granted the kingdom into eternity, the kingdom that has no end and through David’s offspring (his son Solomon) forever and ever.

That is one reason why 2 Samuel 7 is so important. It’s the Davidic Covenant. Now let’s look at Nahum 1, who has a vision about the city of Nineveh. Here are high points descriptive of God’s power.

God is jealous, and the Lord revenges, the Lord revenges. The Lord is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies. The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the evildoers.

He has His way regardless of wherever that may be. He has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. He rebukes the sea and makes the sea dry and dried up all the rivers. The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire. Nevertheless, in view of all these catastrophic scenarios, The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knows them that trust in Him.

It’s His earth. He holds the title deed. It’s His earth. He created it. To the people in Maui and Lahaina and many other places of destruction, it’s His message that He is sending.

Revelation 6 opens with a seven year period of scenes from heaven picturing the severity of the troubles of this world. John is waiting with the saints all watching. Never before known, but now known. It is what we have heard about “the day of the Lord.”

The Great God has been silent as compared to what will be seen. He speaks from His place of abode. Isaiah and Daniel speak of these events. The book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ revealed to John expounds on the day of the Lord events.

We saw a type when we saw the quick, destructive fires of Maui and Lahaina. We all mourn, not only for those in the fires and affected by the fires, but the many other sorrowful events we see day to day. So sorrowful. Get ready and stay ready. The earth is the Lord’s.
