The 2018 StarQuest Finalists Are…

Two weeks ago, the 7th annual StarQuest Singing Competition came to a close after contestants auditioned live at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23. After a week of deliberating, the StarQuest celebrity judges have selected the following finalists for the StarQuest 4 Kids Singing Competition:

• Auriana Chisholm
• Chloe Wedge
• Helen Esparrago aka “Bluani”
• Jhala Angelique
• Laniyah Garcia who was also the online winner

The StarQuest adult finalists are:
• Allisonne Crawford
• Kyree Sterling
• Melissa Figueroa
• Sonya Parker a/k/a Mz Sunnie Daye
• Marcio Donaldson who was also selected as the online winner

The 2018 StarQuest finalists will go on to compete in the final round of the singing competition in front of entertainment industry executives, competition judges and 350,000 people at 13th annual Taste of Soul Family Festival Saturday, October 20 on the Hyundai Soundstage, formerly known as the StarQuest stage.


Following their performances, two grand prize winners (one adult and one child) will receive a cash prize and be escorted to perform on the radio stages. The StarQuest4Kids winner will perform on the 102.3 Radio Free  KJLH stage and the StarQuest adult winner will perform on the 94.7 The Wave stage.

Although the Hyundai Soundstage is home of the StarQuest Singing Competition, the stage will also bring festival goers hits from the 90s with performances from Chante Moore and Ginuwine. Kurtis Blow is also set to perform on the Hyundai Soundstage. Journalist and television personality Roland Martin will host the Hyundai Soundstage with DJ B-Hen on the ones and twos.
