Christmas at the Cathedral Concert Features Top Performers

One in five African American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and on Nov. 21, NFL Hall of Famer Michael Haynes shared his story of diagnosis and survival at “A Community Conversation on Prostate Cancer Early Detection and Education” at West Angeles Church of God in Christ. Smith Headlines Annual Celebration of Life Breakfast

The Wellness Group will present their 14th Annual Breast Health Awareness Celebration of Life Health Breakfast on Saturday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at West Angeles Church of God in Christ, 3045 Crenshaw Boulevard in Los Angeles. The event, held in the church’s Crystal Room, aims to raise awareness on breast health awareness and healthy lifestyles among the underserved African-American women in Los Angeles County. Overflowing crowd attends Bishop Blake’s 75th Birthday Celebration

A capacity crowd filled the West Angeles Cathedral on July 31 to celebrate the 75th birthday of the Right Rev. Charles E. Blake, presiding bishop of the Church of God in Christ denomination and pastor of West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles. As a testament to the tremendous impact of his ministry, the audience included prominent clergy, elected officials, community leaders and thousands of members of West Angeles as well as other churches. The Los Angeles Sentinel extends best wishes to Rev. William Turner of New Revelations Baptist Church in Pasadena on the occasion of his 77th birthday. The Sentinel also salutes Bishop Charles E. Blake of West Angeles Church of God in Christ on his 75th birthday.
