Mary Wilson, founding and original member of The Supremes, passed away suddenly this evening according to a statement from her longtime friend and publicist, Jay Schwartz. She was at her home in Henderson, NV. She was 76.
Legendary music executive Berry Gordy was honored with a square on the corner of Sunset and Argyle, directly under the 6255 Sunset building that once housed his famed Motown Records once it moved from Detroit to Los Angeles.
He announced his retirement during the 60th-anniversary celebration of Motown that took place in Detroit last month.
Center Theatre Group presents a musical about the Motown singing group, the Temptations here in Los Angeles before heading to Broadway in the Spring. “Ain’t Too Proud,” a musical about the life and times of the iconic singing group the Temptations, will be playing in downtown Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre until Sunday, Sept. 30. The musical takes us from the very beginning when Otis Williams was just a teenager in Detroit, trying to find the right sound and most importantly, the right group. Throughout the show, we see his journey in meeting Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and
