Women in Ministry Plan Luncheon and Fashion Show

Music, fashion and fellowship will highlight Summer Gospel Luncheon and Fashion Show sponsored by the AME Church’s Southern California Conference Women in Ministry (SCCWIM). The event is set for Saturday, August 12, at 11:30 a.m., at Second AME Church, 5500 S. Hoover St., in Los Angeles. The Rev. Homegoing Service Held for Deaconess Luerena Williams

Luerena Williams, a longtime member of the AME Church, passed away on May 20 at the age of 92. Her long life was highlighted by her 20 years of faithful service as a missionary at Brookins (now Brookins-Kirkland) Community AME Church and 21 years as a stewardess and deaconess at Second AME Church, both in Los Angeles. She also served many years as president of Second AME’s Golden Glory Senior Club. Her homegoing service was held May 26. The Rev. Fugh Headlines SCC Lay Revival

Bishop Clement W. Fugh, presiding prelate of the AME 5th Episcopal District, will headline the 7th Annual Community Revival starting Thursday, May 11 through Friday, May 12, at 7 p.m. The services, sponsored by the Southern California Conference Lay Organization (SCCLO) of the AME Church, will be held at Second AME Church, 5500 S. Cheers, laughter and applause filled the room as Pastor Robert Ned and members of Second AME Church’s Golden Glory Senior Club saluted Luerena Williams on June 16. During a ‘This Is Your Life’ presentation, family, friends and parishioners paid tribute for her faithfulness to God and Second AME where she serves as a missionary, stewardess and deaconess.
