Wesley Assigned to Phillips Temple CME

The Rev. Dr. Darrell J. Wesley has been appointed senior pastor at Phillips Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles. Bishop Paul A. G. Steward, CME Ninth District Presiding Prelate, announced the assignment on July 28 during the annual conference reporting session.

CME SoCal Region Holds 33rd Annual Conference

The Christian Methodist Episcopal Church recently held its 33rd Southern California Annual Conference at Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church in Los Angeles. The theme was “The Investment Factor: Expressing God’s Love through Missions and Outreach!” Bishop Bobby R. Best, presiding prelate of the Ninth Episcopal District, requested Bishop Teresa Jefferson-Snorton, presiding prelate of the Fifth Episcopal District, to oversee the proceedings in his absence. Other leaders included the Rev. Travis A. Morris, host presiding elder of the Los Angeles-San Diego District; the Rev. Mark A. Hardin, presiding elder of the Los Angeles District; and the Rev. Bernard M. Jackson, host pastor.

Vaughn Keynotes at Phillips Temple 111th Anniversary

Cortez Vaughn will be the guest preacher on Sunday, January 21, at 10:30 a.m., at the 111th church anniversary service of Phillips Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church, 971 E. 43rd St., in Los Angeles. Phillips Temple marks 109th year

Phillips Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church, 971 E. 43rd Street, will celebrate 109 years in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 21.  Morning worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. A special anniversary luncheon will follow. Senior Bishop Lawrence L. Reddick III, presiding prelate of the Eighth Episcopal District of the CME Church, will be the guest preacher.  His district encompasses the state of Texas and the island country of Jamaica.
