First Ladies Unite to Decrease Preventable Illnesses

The First Ladies Health Initiative (FLHI) is proving to be a strong voice for wellness in Southern California. The faith-based outreach program, created by Executive Director Tracey Alston and sponsored by Walgreens, provided health screenings to more than 37,000 people last year. The success of the effort can be traced to the leadership and involvement of the first ladies of several churches in Los Angeles, Inglewood, Pasadena and Orange County. Christ Our Redeemer Hosts AME SoCal Annual Conference

African Methodists throughout Southern California and the western U.S. will gather October 21 to November 1 for the 92nd Session of the Southern California Annual Conference of the AME Church and the Fifth District Planning Meeting. Bishop Clement W. Fugh, presiding prelate, and Supervisor Alexia Butler Fugh, will oversee the both events as the new spiritual leaders of the Fifth Episcopal District. Pastor Mark E.
