Weapons of War on Our Streets?

John Adams and his son, John Quincy, were the only two of our first 12 Presidents who didn’t own slaves.  

I mention this for two reasons: first, to demonstrate how the control and devaluation of Black lives formed the foundation of our political thought; and second, to reinforce that Adams may be more qualified than most founding fathers to speak about justice. 

He wrote, “we are to look upon it as more beneficial, that many guilty persons should escape unpunished, than one innocent person should suffer.”  

L.A. Council President Emeritus Herb Wesson To Hold Free Diaper Grab-and-Go Saturday

Los Angeles City Council President Emeritus Herb J. Wesson Jr. and Good Plus Foundation will host a diaper grab-and-go for 10th Council District residents on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at his district office in Koreatown. Diapers will be given to families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. Priority will be given to families in the 10th Council District but no families are excluded from applying. Limited quantities and sizes available. All families must sign-up online at herbwesson.com/diapers. No walk-ups will be permitted.
