Eagle Wings of Enlightenment Center Marks 34th Anniversary

Eagle Wings of Enlightenment Center, a South Los Angeles nonprofit dedicated to peace and non-violence, celebrated its 34th Anniversary on Sept. 26. A capacity crowd turned out for the event held at The Proud Bird Restaurant and centered on theme, “Honoring the Indigenous Way of Life.”   Entertainment included Japanese drumming, African drumming,  an Aztec dance ceremony,  a Maori Haka warrior dance and Native flute music. Also, a tribute was given in honor of the 28-year service of the center’s Firekeepers. LeBaaba Passes at 70, Interfaith Services Set

                 Acclaimed lecturer celebrated for his vast knowledge of the world’s religions Dr. Oldoinyo Laetoli LeBaaba was a unique human being whose commitment to indigenous cultures was as distinctive as his appearance. Adorned with jewelry, rings and facial markings, LeBaaba was heralded around the world for his allegiance to sharing ancient ways of life and knowledge. His dedication to preserving the legacy of indigenous /aboriginal cultures came to a close with his passing in Los Angeles on May 6. He was 70 years old.
