Many Blacks, perhaps most, initially considered challenging Obama’s decisions sacrilegious, and   more than a few continued to regard him as an icon to be neither properly                                           critiqued nor criticized. Although   increasingly concerned with his decisions, Blacks also needed to be concerned about ineffective Black leadership in general, especially in light of the daunting challenges in the 21st century.

Black scholar tells why drug reform includes legalizing and regulating marijuana

Reform drug laws, by decriminalizing, legalizing, and regulating marijuana, Dr. Ron Daniels, veteran social and political activist, advocated during an intimate lunch at the National Association of Black Social Workers Los Angeles Chapter on April 21. Dr. Daniels, president of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century (IBW), was hosted by Greg Akili of the Los Angeles Black Worker Center and Black Lives Matter – Los Angeles, and Dr. Shirley Better, president of the Association of Black Social Workers. The luncheon was attended by local community leaders, clergy, activists, and scholars. Within the drug policy reform movement, across the
