L.A. City Council Could Seek Law to Crack Down on Street Racing Promoters
October 19, 2021
The Los Angeles City Council today will vote on whether to explore the feasibility of making it illegal to encourage, promote, instigate, assist, facilitate, aid or abet a street race or reckless driving exhibition. The idea for the ordinance — which would be modeled after one adopted by San Jose — was introduced by Councilman John Lee.
“Over recent years, the internet and social media have made it even easier for organizers of these illegal events to organize and promote them, despite the best efforts of law enforcement,” Lee said in his motion.
