The California Jazz Foundation (CJF) will hold its 12th annual “Give the Band a Hand” Gala fundraiser on Saturday, March 30, at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel.
The California Jazz Foundation will present its 11th annual “Give the Band a Hand” gala fundraiser at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel on Saturday, April 8, at 5:30 p.m. The event honors the best of the jazz community while raising money to provide support to California’s jazz musicians in financial or medical need.
The California Jazz Foundation (CJF) aids musicians facing challenging times and circumstances. To date CJF has touched the lives of almost 400 jazz musicians, providing rent and mortgage payments, housing relocation, arranging for medical and dental care, in-home nursing, discount prescriptions and helping with other emergencies as they arise.
In 1982, radio stations across the world were blasting the bass heavy song “Forget Me Nots”. Just a decade later, Will Smith sampled the hit song for his chart topping “Men In Black” soundtrack. The mastermind behind some of music’s biggest contributions came from a woman whose musical knowledge extends far beyond the microphone.
