Freeman’s New Memoir Traces Her Time as Soul Train Dancer

In November 1971 Damita Jo Freeman and her dance partner, Don Campbell, were having fun at clubs like Maverick Flats in Los Angeles  when she and Campbell auditioned for a new show called Soul Train, created by Don Cornelius, that would forever change their lives.  Damita has written a book titled “Are You That Girl on Soul Train?!”

GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, today announced that it will honor Beyoncé and JAY-Z together with the Vanguard Award for their LGBTQ allyship at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on Thursday, March 28, 2019.
