The Los Angeles Sparks announced today the hiring of Curt Miller as the next Head Coach of the franchise. Miller spent the last seven seasons as the Head Coach of the Connecticut Sun, six of those with the General Manager title, compiling a regular season record of 140-86.
On July 1, the Los Angeles Sparks became the first team in the WNBA to earn 500 victories after they defeated the Dallas Wings 97-89.
The Los Angeles Sparks close out the series (3-1) against rival Minnesota Lynx with a resounding 79-57 win in front of an energized Staples Center crowd on Thursday (Aug. 2). After five straight home game losses, the Sparks held the Lynx to a season low 57 points.
Although the Sparks shot at 45.3 percent in field goals, they could not outlast the Washington Mystics. An abundance of free throw opportunities would give Washington an 83-74 win over Los Angeles.
