A day after a tweet by President Donald Trump called on “‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen” to “go back” to their “broken and crime infested” countries, the four representatives who are believed to be the target of his attack are speaking out. Reps. Alexandria-Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley are holding a press conference in response to the president’s remarks. During those remarks, Omar called directly for the impeachment of the president. “It is time for us to impeach this president,” she said.

Viola Davis to Star as Shirley Chisholm in Amazon Project

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis is gearing up to play groundbreaking politician Shirley Chisholm in a film for Amazon Studios. The company said Thursday that Davis has signed on to star in and produce the project about Chisholm, who was the first black woman ever elected to the United States Congress and the first woman to seek the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. She represented New York’s 12th District in the House of Representatives from 1969 to 1983, and sought the presidential nomination in 1972. Chisholm died in 2005 at age 80. NASA Appoints Vanessa Wyche, First African-American Woman Deputy Director of the Johnson Space Center

Mother of Slain Teen Jordan Davis Wins Georgia Congressional Primary

  Lucia “Lucy” McBath mother of slain teen Jordan Davis has won the Democratic nomination in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District after winning a runoff election on Tuesday. She joins the list of a growing number of black women who want to shake up Washington. McBath stepped onto the national stage at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, joining eight other mothers whose Black children were killed by cops or gun violence.
