Compton Honors The Game during Black History Month Celebration

The City of Compton marked a milestone in its annual Black History Month celebration on Saturday, Feb. 22, as city officials and community members gathered at the Dollarhide Community Center to honor hometown icon Jayceon Terrell Taylor, known globally as The Game.

Dozier Singers to Perform at Hollypark UMC Black History Celebration

                       Service will include unveiling of the Gwen Ifill Black Heritage Stamp Gardena Mayor Tasha Cerda and Gardena Postmaster Pam Smith-Cunningham will unveil the Gwen Ifill commemorative postage stamp during a gospel concert on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m., at Hollypark United Methodist Church, 13000 S. Van Ness Ave. in Gardena. The U.S. Postal Service issued the Black Heritage Forever stamp in memory of Ifill, an African American woman who broke gender and racial barriers and became a role model for journalists. She passed away from endometrial cancer in 2016
