KCBS/KCAL & L.A. Sentinel Partner to Launch Black News Stories  

The Los Angeles Sentinel and KCBS/KCAL has launched a historical new Black news segment for Los Angeles viewers.  Beginning July 21, the KCBS/KCAL News team started airing L.A. Sentinel Community Insider on Thursdays at 10:45 a.m. on “KCAL News with Amy Johnson.”  

Dr. Elaine Batchlor Excels as CEO of MLK Community Healthcare  

Dr. Elaine Batchlor, Chief Executive Officer of MLK Community Healthcare, will be honored on April 15 at Bakewell Media’s Power, Leadership & Influence of the Black Woman event. The event will take place at the Beverly Hilton from 11am to 2pm. CBS 2 Anchor Pat Harvey will moderate. Dr. Batchlor will be honored alongside the newly-elected Mayor Karen Bass and several other prominent women of Los Angeles, including LA County Metropolitan Transportation Authority CEO Stephanie N. Wiggins and veteran broadcaster Pat Prescott.

The Black Women Legends Awards will be presented to five accomplished African Americans at the “Power, Leadership and Influence of the Black Woman” luncheon on April 15. The achievements of the recipients are equaled by the attainments of the women for whom the Black Women Legends Awards are named – described as trailblazers who broke down barriers. 

Vendors and Attendees express excitement for the Taste of Soul’s in-person return

Good vibes and energy permeated Saturday’s, October 15, Taste of Soul event which is probably what caused the rain and clouds that filled the sky earlier that morning to disappear. The free family street festival took place on the historic Crenshaw Blvd. and attracted thousands of people from all over to enjoy food, music, performances, and much more. The event took place virtually for the past two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
