As the 54th District assemblymember, Bryan will represent the neighborhoods of Baldwin Hills, Cheviot Hills, Crenshaw, Century City, Culver City, Ladera Heights, Mar Vista, Palms, Rancho Park, Westwood and sections of South Los Angeles and Inglewood.
If Bryan has less than a majority when the results are certified, he will face Hutt in a runoff July 20. The special election was necessitated by Sydney Kamlager’s election to the state Senate in a special election March 2, filling the vacancy caused by Holly J. Mitchell’s election to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
To assist renters during these unprecedented times, California Assemblymember, Reggie Jones-Sawyer launched a new rental assistance program for the residence of the 59th Assembly District. “These are very challenging times for many of the residents in my district and throughout the state. Me, and my colleagues in the legislature, have been working to provide relief to renters as well as landlords, and I just want to make sure everyone has the necessary information to access these programs and resources during these challenging times,” stated Assembly Member Jones-Sawyer.
Now serving her second term, Assemblywoman Burke has been writing legislation to address the nation’s flawed access to resources like reproductive health, adequate and affordable healthcare and environmental justice. Burke has invested much of her work in an initiative to end childhood poverty and her influence towards this cause is visible in Governor Newsom’s budget which includes proposals to directly address child poverty and support families in breaking the cycle of poverty through work and education, including a grant increase for the lowest income families served by the CalWORKs program.

Legislation by Assemblymember Chris Holden has been approved by the Senate Education Committee to form a partnership between high schools and community colleges to allow high schoolers to participate in college level courses so that they can be better prepared for education after high school.
