Oscars Viewership Again Drops To Record Low

Viewership for ABC’s Oscars telecast plummeted to 9.85 million viewers, according to preliminary figures released today by Nielsen, continuing the trend of record-low viewership for awards shows since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Oscar’s Producer Jeannae Rouzan-Clay Reflects on 10 Years in Entertainment    

The key to long-term development with a production company is lifting people up, while climbing yourself; the VP of Specials expressed the benefits of staying committed to a growing legacy. Rouzan-Clay elaborated on her thoughts of working with Jesse Collins, who she met when stationed at John Cossette Productions. Rouzan-Clay said, “He’s always been good about wanting to elevate women of color specifically.” 

Two Documentaries Up for Oscars Tell Stories of Nonagenarians

One, Horace Bowers, is a 93-year-old Black man born in the Jim Crow South who became a successful business owner in California and the grandfather of a prominent composer. The other, Colette Marin-Catherine, is a French woman who was part of the resistance during World War II. She turns 93 on April 25, the day of the ceremony. Neither ever dreamed that they would have any connection to the movies at all, let alone Hollywood’s greatest honor.
