For the first time, StarQuest opened mobile and web auditions to find two lucky winners (5-17 & 18+) who would automatically get the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds-of-thousands at this year’s Taste of Soul. With 15 contestants, competing for 2 spots, Ryenn, 15, swept the StarQuest Kids web auditions with over 300 votes and almost 1500 views, while DUTCHess pulled ahead with over 350 votes and over 2,300 views. StarQuest also held in-person auditions at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza last Saturday and Sunday where they will also choose 5 StarQuest Kids finalists and 5 StarQuest Adult Finalists to join Ryenn and DUTCHess to perform on the StarQuest stage. The winners of these two categories will then go on to perform at the Radio Free KJLH Stage or the 94.7 The Wave Stage to open for a surprise celebrity artist. “We are so excited that so many people participated in StarQuest People Choice Auditions,” said Taelor Bakewell, Public Relations for StarQuest/Taste of Soul, “I think DUTCHess and Ryenn are awesome competitors, and are definitely going to give the other finalists a run for their money…”. Over 130 people auditioned for the in-person auditions and the finalists will be announced at the end of the week.
