Dr. Erroll G. Southers was recently elected vice president of the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners.  Mayor Karen Bass nominated Southers in February to replace Eileen Decker, who resigned, and he was confirmed by the City Council in March.  

As vice president, he will serve with William Briggs, Police Commission president, and Brian Williams, deputy mayor of public safety. The three men are also members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Southers has an extensive history in law enforcement and criminal justice. Currently, he is the associate senior vice president of Safety and Risk Assurance at the University of Southern California and was previously assistant chief of Homeland Security and Intelligence at the Los Angeles World Airports Police Department. Also, he serves as managing director of the Counter-Terrorism and Infrastructure Protection Division for TAL Global Corporation, an international security and risk management consulting firm.
