Councilmember Heather Hutt is receiving the most grassroots support to be Council District 10 representative.  She is the first woman to represent CD 10, the only Black woman on the current City Council and only the third Black woman to serve on the Council in the history of the city. 

Price Endorses Marisa Alcaraz for L.A. Council District 6 

L.A. City Council President Pro Tem Curren Price has endorsed Marisa Alcaraz for Council District 6. Alcaraz currently serves as Price’s environmental policy director and deputy chief of staff and is vying for the seat left vacant by former Council President Nury Martinez. A special election is scheduled for April 4.

Council Shutdown Occurs After Disgraced Council Members Won’t Resign

Last week, a recording anonymously posted on the social media site Reddit rocked the Los Angeles City Council.  On the recording, Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Hererra, City Council President Nury Martinez (District 6), and City Council members Kevin de León (District 14) and Gilbert Cedillo (District 1) can be heard discussing redistricting using crass terms and divisive, racist language.

Elect Curren Price as the Next L.A. Council President 

  On the evening of Oct. 10, L.A. City Councilmember Curren Price held a candlelight vigil to bring healing to the City of L.A. and demand the immediate resignations of L.A. City Councilmembers Nury Martinez, Kevin de León and Gil Cedillo.
