Racism is obviously a controlling subject today. What is it and why is it and when is it and what do we do about it? This is difficult. Racism starts in the heart. We cannot lie and say God created it, because the Almighty did not. It’s like the more it is spoken of the more famous it becomes and has become a popular word that radiates everywhere and anywhere. It is a term that speaks of “hatred.” But, not everyone is “racist.” You remember that scripture, “Know no person hereafter-longer after the flesh.” And He talks to the disciples about the “hatred of the world.” It’s unfortunate He found it necessary to talk to them about hatred; but one can understand that He knew a lot about “the hatred of the world;” for He was hated for bringing in the “Gospel.” When He was going away, He spoke about they had not asked Him for anything, but now He says, “ask and you shall receive.”(John 16:24) How about we ask Him to break the barriers down of hatred, racism and prejudice. We can see this up close, but perhaps not anticipate what all that entails. Hatred takes many different faces. It’s not only color of skin, but includes jealousy and all kinds of prejudices. Acts 17:17 “We are of (one) blood.” Galatians 5:17, “the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit.” The thoughts of the mind want to overwhelm and deny these things. “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks “Matt 12:34.”(Galatians 3:28) “There is neither Jew or Gentile.” All who claim the name of Christ (Christians) are from “one source.” There is no distinction, no difference.  “The flesh (the mind) craves what is contrary to the Holy Spirit which dwells within us when in Christ. They are in conflict and in war with each other. So, what will you do about this? Now knowing that we are all of “one.” “from now on we regard no one according to the flesh..know no one from a worldly point of view (2 Corinthians 5:16) We have to change our minds about how we see people. Whether they are of whatever that state is, regardless of physical appearances or whatever. This will take a mind change and mental adjustment to think when you see someone, “This person was created by The Almighty.” Somewhere within this person there  dwells some goodness and bears the signature of “The creator. So, we no longer evaluate others from a human point of view. At one time Christ was viewed from a human viewpoint; but now we know better than to see him as a human; He is divine. It might be difficult to understand; but after accepting Jesus Christ of Lord and Savior, the result of this is a mind change where you seek to know people more lovingly, more respectfully. When Paul spoke to the people of Athens, “He is the God who made the world and everything in it. From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; “Acts 17:26” Paul spoke to many different nations during this message:”He talked to them about the resurrection and told them that in time past, you got away with a lot of this foolishness; overlooked their ignorance,  but now it is now known and He commands all people everywhere to repent; because He will return to judge the world with justice.” It’s one thing to be judged; but when He returns the judgement will be just and beyond question. There will be “no tentative.” Thanks for reading!  Jeanette Grattan Parker, Founder-Superintendent Today’s Fresh Start Charter School 323-293-9826 www.todaysfreshstart.org; Askdrjeanette® www.askdrjeanetteparker.com Ask Dr. Jeanette ®[email protected]Inquiring minds want to know.”©All rights reserved
