Actress and TV host Niecy Nash says she’s particularly looking forward to going heads up with Kate Gosselin on “Dancing with the Stars.”Â
“Let me tell you something, it will be the battle of the mothers,” Nash, 39, told People.com at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.
The ‘Reno 911!” star, who’s partnering up with Louis Van Amstel when “Dancing” returns March 22, said her invitation to be on the show seemed like a natural next step in her career.
“It just seemed like the right thing to do,” she said. “I am dancing for redemption. I haven’t put on a leotard since I was put out of my eighth grade dance class. So I’m trying to prove to my old dance teacher that I can do it.”
As for her biggest competition? She predicted it will be 80-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin. “I peeked in on Buzz’s rehearsal,” she told People. “He has some hip moves and I don’t know if America is ready for it.” Â
