The new Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital recently held its first-ever Little Hearts Maternal Health Baby Shower. The baby shower is the first of a monthly series and featured a number of activities, which introduced the Hospital’s Labor and Delivery Unit to expecting mothers in the South L.A. area.

The two-day event provided expecting mothers and their significant others the opportunity to engage with physicians and nurses through discussions about birthing, breast-feeding and other maternal health related topics. Attendees were also treated to an interactive tour of family-oriented birthing suites.

“We are excited to welcome expecting mothers to our state-of-the-art unit,” said MLKCH’s Director of Maternal Child Health Kennetha Gaines. “We look forward to serving our community by helping families grow, one baby at a time.”

The hospital’s next baby shower is scheduled to take place in late September. Expectant mothers and their guests can register via www.mlkch.org/baby to reserve a seat, or they can call the main Labor and Delivery Unit at 424.338.8233.
