“I call it a movement,” Sousa reflected on the growth of the LYT Comedy show; becoming a bi-coastal experience with pop-up events happening in Manhattan, New York. They received a generous amount of feedback about their impact on the audience—Sousa highlighted several requests to travel across the country to create the LYT Comedy experience.

“I’m just so proud of everybody on our team. They’re also comedians and artists. They have their own careers and lives, and they dedicate their time, energy and their talent to being honestly, the best team. And we get so much feedback about them and how great they are—so kind, professional and so sweet and just on top of everything,” Sousa said. One of LYT’s core missions is to create a space where comedians can thrive without feeling pressured to conform.

The LYT Comedy show is a fully immersive show. As guests walk up to the venue, they feel the vibrations coming from the music blasting from the DJ booth and the LYT team starts entertainment upon arrival; greeting people at the step-and-repeat, playing games on the red carpet, or conducting interviews.

Once everyone is seated, the show starts off with a prayer in the green room or on stage. Then, audience members are given flameless candles. One will see a candle being lifted in the air in testimony—whenever an audience member feels inclined during the comedian’s set. At the end of the night, guests are known to leave with gift bags from the raffle.

“I just really believe in our little comedy church because we have that vibe,” Sousa expressed that the prayer sets the tone and brings an extra layer of protection over everyone and creates a welcoming air for a shared experience.

The organization’s flagship live events have quickly gained a reputation for their electric energy and thought-provoking humor. Recently highlighted by ABC 7, LYT performances go beyond punchlines—they tackle social issues with wit and authenticity. Audiences aren’t just laughing; they’re engaging in cultural conversations.

The LYT Comedy group engages in significant community engagement through LYT Comedy Cares, expanding its influence beyond entertainment. “I realized that what we’re building and creating is beyond me. I’m just a vessel. My prayer is when I’m old and gray or dead and gone, that it’s still going and that the right people are carrying it,” Sousa said.

LYT Comedy stands out as a transformative force in the world of stand-up. Founded by a noted comedian and actress, LYT is more than just a comedy brand—it’s a movement that seeks to amplify diverse voices, challenge stereotypes and create a platform for underrepresented talent.
