Compton, CA – The following is a statement from Compton Mayor Aja Brown on Metro’s announcement of $30M in safety upgrades along their Blue Line Corridor:
“The new investments in signage, reconstructed walkways, pedestrian gates and swing arms in Compton along Metro’s Blue Corridor sends a clear message that we are taking the safety of Compton residents seriously,” stated Mayor Aja Brown. “I commend Metro’s Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer Phil Washington for putting the safety of our residents and those who travel through and to Compton first. These much needed upgrades reinforce the importance of safe and accessible transit. The Blue Line remains the workhorse of the Metro rail system servicing over 90,000 riders per day–many of which live in the city of Compton. I’ve advocated for equitable Blue Line improvements since the beginning of my administration and I am elated to share in this accomplishment.”
