Bishop Theodore Larry Kirkland, Sr., will headline the 6th Annual Community Revival sponsored by the Southern California Conference Lay Organization (SCCLO) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
The worship takes place on Thursday April 7, and Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m., at Price Chapel AME Church, located on 4000 West Slauson Avenue in Los Angeles. The theme is “Laity by Grace: Saved Through Faith.”
Kirkland, who is celebrating his 55th year in ministry, is the presiding prelate of the Fifth Episcopal District of the AME Church. Previously, he served as bishop of the 9th and 17th Episcopal Districts as well as the denomination’s Ecumenical Officer and president of the Council of Bishops.
For nearly 20 years, Kirkland was the spiritual leader of Brookins Community AME Church in Los Angeles. Under his leadership, the sanctuary was renovated, surrounding properties were purchased, and several outreach ministries were established.
An author of several books on evangelism, Bishop Kirkland continues to advise mayors, governors and national leaders on issues such as voter’s registration, police brutality, and economic empowerment.
